Meet The Gleasons!
The Gleasons spent about a year putting together their songs and sounds, and in February of 2004 finally ended up with the current lineup. The Gleasons' music is a mixture of traditional Irish, bluegrass, Americana, a hint of Latin, rock and American pop. The wide variety of musical tastes in the band blend together to create one of the most original and energetic bands in the Milwaukee area. Their live shows are a must see. Although the band takes their music very seriously, they certainly do know how to have fun and mix it up with the crowd. Singing songs about Ireland, old time movies, love, and drinking beer, The Gleasons never cease to hold a crowd's attention. The songs are well written, the musicianship is great, and the people in the band are just out to play music and have fun. Next time you get a chance, go see them play. You'll be dancing until the end.

"I began writing music and playing in bands in the early 90's and was heavily influenced by alt rock and American folk music. Ironically, it was at the urging of The Gleasons very own Andy Potocic that I began my musical career. That eclectic journey led me down several pathways that included the rock bands Central Plain, Thin Man and Dorian's Virtue — all of which included Andy. I was also the lead vocalist in the prog metal band Max Cooper until The Gleasons formed in early 2003. I cite several influences including Bob Dylan, U2, Clannad and Johnny Cash. I'm a Rush fanatic and my favorite vocalist is Nat King Cole." |

"I started playing music when I was 12 years old. First it was the guitar, then the bass, then the accordian, then the mandolin, then the banjo, then the... nope, that's it. Dave and I have been performing together since we were wee lads (16 years old). He's really helped my writing. And in recent years I've gotten hooked on recording and producing music in my home studio. Kelp Chofs (who also plays keyboards part-time with us) has been a great resource. I like many styles of music — as long as it's good! But I've got a special place in my musical heart for Van Halen and Bob Dylan. Basically, I'm a quiet boy that likes puzzles... " |

"I started fiddling around when I was 9 years old. I'm classically trained, but always found myself drawn to bluegrass, traditional tunes and country-western fare. Jumping into professional performing at a relatively late age, I quickly learned to improvise with The Lawmen (of country-western descent). Curtis Crossroads greatly expanded my Irish repertoire and Irishfest has been a favorite venue for years. But it's The Gleasons that has really been the ticket, as those talented songwriters of ours give us music to create with them. Thanks guys! It's a treat to hear my kids walking around the house singing "One Bottle Down" in a rousing chorus! I'm a country bumpkin at heart and happily reside in the bluffs of Crawford County with my kids, dogs, pigs, chickens and supportive husband. Thanks honey... for never getting tired of watching us play!" |

"I started playing the flute in 5th grade in the elementary school band and I loved how every second of it seemed to come naturally. In the years following that initial immersion into music I also learned to play a variety of instruments, which include the sax, piccolo, recorder, piano, whistles, American Indian flutes and very recently the guitar. I played well into high school until my priorities got scrambled and I denied that musical passion for other life experiences. Many years and a small family later I discovered a band that hit my soul so hard that it literally brought me to my knees in tears. Brule features a young flute player who reminded me of myself before I lost the music within me. Their musical poetry and passion was the reason I started playing again. I devoured all the music that I came in contact with, starting with the Brule CDs, and shook my very own foundation with a newly discovered passion. Within a few months I got bored playing along with the radio and other musicians' CDs, so I began looking for a way to branch out and express the music in my soul. I placed an ad on an Internet site that lead to a brief email from Dave, which lead to a chance encounter with Dave and Andy that eventually evolved into The Gleasons. It's amazing to me still how the wheels of change brought us all together and continue to take us wherever it is we are headed. What a ride so far! Thanks for all your love and undying support my fellow Gleasons. I am a better person because of you. :)" |
Suzanne Kreuziger » bass » vocals » accordian
"I first saw The Gleasons at a benefit show during a Gallery Night and thought, what a great band! I wish I was in a band like that! All the beer was long gone, but we stayed into the evening. Much later I saw an ad online looking for a bass player and realized that it was the same band that I had enjoyed so much. At that point I had really not played the bass very much at all; I guess I just needed the right motivation to get going. This is where I should probably thank my long-suffering husband Brian, and my church choir band, for putting up with me when I am tired Sunday morning after a late Saturday night Gleasons gig." |
Barry Salem » drums » dinks and danks
"I have been playing drums and percussion for 20 years. I toured with Jo Serrapere and Pub Domain in the late 1990's. I like ice water and pomegranates. My interests include building homes, fishing, golf, and appearing out of nowhere when you least expect it. Influences include Ringo Starr, Bun E Carlos, Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl, Neil Peart, and The Velvet Fog (Mel Torme). Band influences include The Beatles, Cheap Trick, Rush, Lunasa, Eileen Ivers, Kodo, Dead Can Dance and any movie soundtracks written by John Williams or Danny Elfman. That's all I got to say about that." |
Kelp Chofs » Keyboards » Assorted Wood and MetalThings
"I remember this conversation with my mother from when I was 7 years old:" Mom: "Would you like to take piano lessons?" Me: "No. Not really." Mom: "Well, you start Monday! "After playing keyboards, bass and guitar in bands for years, my interest in technology led me into recording and production. In fact, I met Dave and Andy when they asked me to record Thin Man's first CD. I'm having a blast supporting The Gleasons both on-stage and behind the scenes. For some reason they all seem rather amused when I make my keyboards sound like crickets..." |
